Release Date: 02 Nov 2021

New Mexico State University has named a second finalist for dean of the NMSU Library. Kevin James Comerford is expected to visit the university’s Las Cruces campus Nov. 8.

Comerford, associate university librarian for research, technology and the digital library at the University of California, Riverside, joins Bella Gerlich, research and grants librarian at Texas Tech University, as finalists for the NMSU Library dean position.

A finalist forum with Comerford will take place from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Nov. 8 in Domenici Hall, Room 109. The forum may also be viewed online at https://nmsu.zoom.us/j/91041760523.

Finalists’ resumes, interview schedules and Zoom links, along with forms to provide feedback, are posted online at https://webcomm.nmsu.edu/hire/library-dean/candidates/.

A search committee, chaired by NMSU Honors College Dean Phame Camarena, began work in May and launched a nationwide search for qualified candidates in partnership with search firm Isaacson, Miller.

The library dean reports to Carol Parker, senior vice president for academic affairs and provost; sits on the Council of Deans; and has primary responsibility for the leadership of the NMSU Library, a central resource of the NMSU community.
